Kenyans on social media went crazy on Thursday, June 22 after a relative of the National Super Alliance Raila Odinga, came out publicly to spill the beans on blatant rigging within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Oburu Odinga left many a tongue wagging after confessing how stealing of votes is the order of the day in the Orange party.
This is because of Oburu’s more popular brother, Raila Odinga, always crying foul during presidential elections with claims of being rigged out. Many were shocked to learn that the former Prime Minister’s own lieutenants are masters of the dirty game.
This comes on the backdrop of Raila and his cronies rushing to court to block a direct multi-billion-shilling tender given by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to Dubai-based printing firm Al Ghurair to print ballot papers to be used in the forthcoming General Election
Leaders of the National Super Alliance (NASA) in which Raila is the presidential candidate, believe IEBC, Al Ghurair and President Uhuru Kenyatta are colluding to steal the polls scheduled for August 8 by over-printing presidential ballot papers.
Speaking earlier this week, Oburu said he schemed with other ODM operatives to rig results in favour of his cousin, Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo, after he lost to Elisha Odhiambo during the 2013 party nominations.
Here’s how some Kenyans responded to the confession:
Ngetich K Gilbert: No wonder rigging of elections is their best song.
Paul Wanjohi: The family of saints. Kumbe ata nyinyi ni mabepali?
Sammy Boyjunior: It’s a family business…shame on them!!
